Newburgh, N.Y. - After a three game home stand that saw the College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's basketball team go 1-2 against Skyline Conference opponents, the Dolphins hit the road and traveled to Newburgh to take on Mount Saint Mary College in a Saturday afternoon matinee. CMSV struggled to get things going throughout the duration of the contest, resulting in a 73-53 loss to the Knights.
Over the first two quarters of action, the Dolphins kept it close, as the entered the locker room at halftime down just five points. CMSV saw contributions all over their roster, with
Aria Rheams leading the way (nine points) and
Dez Brown and
Yamilersy Reyes chipping in on the offensive end as well. As a whole, the Dolphins shot 41% from the floor while holding the Knights to just three of 14 from beyond the arc.
The final 20 minutes of play saw the Dolphins go cold from the floor, as they converted just nine of their 27 shot attempts. Rheams did her best to keep her team in the game, as she scored 13 more points with four rebounds. Unfortunately, the rest of her teammates combined for 15 total points to close out the contest. Outside of Rheams, Brown was the only Dolphin to reach double figures while Reyes and
Gabriela Goldman combined for 15 points.
CMSV, who are now 4-11 on the season, including a 3-7 mark against conference competition, will return home on Monday, when they'll take on Purchase College. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
