Softball Earns Fourth Seed In Skyline Conference Playoffs

Riverdale, N.Y. - With the regular season now completed, the Skyline Conference released the playoff picture for the Softball championships on Tuesday morning. Due to their impressive 11-5 mark against conference competition, the College of Mount Saint Vincent's softball team earned the fourth seed. They will take on Old Westbury at 3:00 PM on Wednesday afternoon.

The rest of the playoff picture is as follows:

Seeds
1. Mount Saint Mary
2. St. Joseph's-Long Island
3. Farmingdale State
4. Mount Saint Vincent
5. Old Westbury
6. St. Joseph's-Brooklyn

The Dolphins entered the season ranked third in preseason polls and largely met expectations in 2018. The team was once again led by Rachel Heizer, who was equally as dominant as a pitcher (2.06 ERA in 19 games) as she was a hitter (.434/.530/.735 in 83 at-bats). The team also saw strong contributions on offense from Alanna Alioto-Reyes, Taylor Milata, Samantha Broo, Katie Moos and Taylor Wittick, all players who hit above .300 this season. In their season series against Old Westbury, the Dolphins won both contests by the combined score of 16-11.

2018 marks the fifth straight year that CMSV has reached postseason play. The Dolphins were eliminated by Farmingdale in the first round last year but will look to reach their first Skyline Conference championship game in program history.
