Men's Lacrosse Fails To Come Back Against Panthers

Box Score Riverdale, N.Y. - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's lacrosse team took Marillac Field for the first time this season on Saturday afternoon. But despite the team hoping home field advantage would play into their favor, the Dolphins struggled during the first half of the game, resulting in a 9-4 loss at the hands of Purchase College. CMSV now stands at 1-6 on the year, with an 0-4 mark against Skyline Conference competition.

Over the first 30 minutes of play, the Dolphins struggled to get much of anything going on offense. While they did get 22 shots off, Panthers goalie Matt Sayegh turned away each one. On the other side of the field, Purchase scored seven first half goals, putting the Dolphins in a hole at halftime.

But once the third quarter came around, CMSV picked up the slack on the offensive end of things. Jarrett McLean scored a team-high two goals in the second half, with Nana-Kofi Agyekum and James Fitzgerald regisered one tally apiece. Jared Mackey, David Collins and Thomas Hanley were all credited with an assist. While the comeback attempt was strong - the score was 7-4 into the fourth quarter - Purchase scored two more times to put the team up for good.

The Dolphins will look to rebound on Wednesday when they take on SUNY Canton at home.
