Baseball Loses Two In Final Double Header of 2018

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's baseball team hosted their final two games of the 2018 season on Sunday afternoon when they took on St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn in a conference double header. Unfortunately, the team struggled to end their year on a high note, as they dropped both games to the Bears.

Despite losing the first game by the score of 7-1, the Dolphins did see some positive production throughout their roster. On the offensive side of things, senior Matt Nesensohn had the only RBI of the outing while joining freshmen Matt DiNorcia and Ross Bartziokas for the team lead with two hits. Joshua Pacheco came into the game for 3.1 innings of relief and struck out an impressive five batters over that span.

Game two was an extra-innings affair that saw the Bears take the lead in the top of the eighth. Starter Sean McHugh was strong throughout his five frames of work, as he allowed six hits and two walks while striking out six batters. The top of the batting order had the most production, as DiNorcia and Justin Varvaro — the first two hitters in the lineup — combined for four hits. Varvaro also drove in the team's only run.

While the Dolphins finished their season with an 8-29 record, coach John Muller has strong pieces moving forward that could very well put the team in playoff contention in the years to come.
