Box Score 2 Riverdale, N.Y. - The College of Mount Saint Vincent hosted Maritime for their latest two Skyline Conference games on Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, the Dolphins struggled against the team that was voted by its peers as the top club in the conference in preseason polls, as they dropped both games to the Privateers. The first game ended with a 19-4 score in Maritime's favor, with the second contest resulting in a CMSV loss by eight.
In what has been a positive turn of events for the Dolphins, the bats were alive and well against Maritime. In game one, center fielder
Emanuel Giumarra, catcher
Matt Albert and second baseman
Ross Bartziokas all had two hits apiece, while
Anthony Nocero and
Michael Kochen were both featured in the hit column as well. Kochen registered a team-high two RBI, while Nocero and freshman
Matt DiNorcia drove in one run each.
Game two had similar results, as the lineup did its job while the pitching staff struggled to follow suit. This time, it was Nocero who paced the Dolphins with two hits, two walks and two runs scored, bringing his batting average up to an impressive .382 this season.
Dylan Torpey,
Honorio Pena and
Dan Blake — the team's four, five and six hitters in the order — each had one RBI, while freshman
Jordan Perykasz came off the bench to drive in a run as well.
The losses bring the Dolphins to 8-20 on the season, with a 2-10 mark against conference opponents. They'll look to improve in the standings on Wednesday when they travel to Pennsylvania to take on Eastern University.
