Softball Goes 1-5 on Spring Break Trip in Florida

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 Riverdale, N.Y. - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's softball team took their annual trip to Florida this past week and participated in the National Training Center Spring Games Tournament during Spring Break. The team, who entered play with a 4-0 record, took on Buffalo State, Mount Mary University, Luther College, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Loras College and Conly College and went 1-5 in the six games.

In the Dolphins' lone win on the trip — one that came against Mount Mary by the score of 12-4 — there were a number of standout performers. Alanna Alioto-Reyes impressed throughout the contest, as she recorded three hits while also driving in four RBI. Kate Moos also performed admirably, as she had a team-high four hits. Samantha Broo, Sophia Herrera, Rachel Heizer, Taylor Wittick, Taylor Milata and Meagan Early all recorded at least one hit apiece, while Early and Hannah Thompson combined to allow just four runs in four innings.

Despite the losses, there were other players who stood out over the course of the team's time in Florida.

Although she took the loss, Heizer allowed just one run on four hits while striking out five against Buffalo State. Moos recorded at least one hit in three of the six games played. Coach Jim O'Connor said, "we had gritty, terrific contests. The team is upbeat and positive."

The Dolphins will return to action on April 2 as they travel to Connecticut to take on Albertus Magnus.
