Riverdale, N.Y. - After capturing their first regular season and Skyline Conference win of the season, the College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's basketball team entered the court confidently when they hosted Mount Saint Mary College on Thursday evening. Unfortunately for the Dolphins, they couldn't keep their winning ways intact as they dropped the contest by the score of 72-45. CMSV now sits at 1-5 with a 1-3 mark against conference competition.
The Dolphins jumped out early to a 7-0 advantage but quickly fell behind, with the Knights never looking back after. Over the first 20 minutes of play, Mount St. Mary found contributions from all over their roster, as seven players scored, including 10 from Lauren Desrats. Meanwhile, the Dolphins struggled from the floor, as they converted just 24% of their shot attempts.
The second half was more of the same for the Dolphins, as they failed to find rhythm over the final two quarters. The team shot 30% overall over that span, including 28% from beyond the arc.
Aria Rheams paced her teammates in both points and rebounds once again, as the sophomore had 16 points and fell one rebound shy of a double double. Freshman Aliyah Lyn chipped in 10 points of her own and led her team in assists, while
Gabriela Goldman chipped in six points off the bench.
The Dolphins return to the court on Saturday when they have another Skyline Conference matchup, this time against the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 PM at Kings Point.
