Kings Point, N.Y. - The Mount Saint Vincent women's basketball struggles continued with 57-43 loss on Saturday afternoon at the Liebertz Gymnasium. The Mariners of the United States Merchant Marine Academy remained unbeaten at 6-0 (4-0 Skyline), while the Dolphins fall to 1-6, including a 1-4 record against Skyline Conference competition.
The first half saw the Dolphins jump out to as high as an eight-point lea but the strong play did not continue for CMSV. While they did take a 10-8 lead into the second quarter, the Mariners put together a huge quarter themselves where they outscored the Dolphins 22–10.
USMMA's strong play continued when they went on a 10-0 run to start the third quarter, holding Mount St. Vincent scoreless until the 2:02 mark, to build a 43-24 advantage after three. The Mariners went up by as many as 22 points, 46-22, in the fourth and never looked back.
Sophomore Aria Rheams led the Dolphins with 17 points and six rebounds, while freshman Aaliyah Lyn chipped in with nine points.
CMSV will look to get back in the win column on Tuesday when they travel to Brooklyn to take on Medgar Evers.
