Dolphins Fall To Golden Eagles On Senior Day

The Background
  • Final Score: College of Mount Saint Vincent 0, St. Joseph's Long Island 2.
  • Records: College of Mount Saint Vincent (4-8-1, 3-4 Skyline), SJLI (8-6 5-2 Skyline).
  • Where: Marilac Field, Riverdale NY.
How It Happened
  • St. Joseph's came ready to play and set the tone early on controlling the pace and scoring eight minutes into the contest.
  • The Dolphins seemed to come to life late in the first half. They were controlling possession and got two great looks at the net but could not put them away.
  • The second half was a defensive battle. For CMSV, senior goalie Meaghan Cleary kept her team in it with fantastic play in net, making multiple crucial saves. Cleary finished the day with 10 saves for the Dolphins.
  • Freshmen Christina Britton and Sophomore Morgan Pavlik were all over the field for the Dolphins. Their high energy kept the game close with the third place Golden Eagles.
  • With time dwindling away, the Dolphins were in full attack mode trying to force overtime. The eagles took advantage and created a fast break chance and finished it to take a 2-0 lead with only three minutes left to play.
  • The lead held for the rest of the game and the Dolphins fell to below .500 in conference play for the first time this season.

 What's Next?
  • The Dolphins take the pitch again this Monday against the #1 ranked Farmingdale Rams. CMSV is looking to snap their two game conference losing streak and get back to .500 against Skyline opponents. This will be their final game of 2018 on their home field.
