Dolphins Close Out Regular Season With Sweep Over Yeshiva

Mackenzie Heizer throws perfect game in game one



QUEENS, NY - The CMSV Softball team returned to action on Monday afternoon, hosting Yeshiva University in the 2017 regular season finale. The Dolphins swept both games of the doubleheader, winning game one 11-0 and game two 8-0. 

The two victories secured the Dolphins seeding for the upcoming Skyline Conference Championships. The Mount earned the no. 5-seed after completing the regular season with a 21-15 overall record and 10-8 mark in conference play. 

Game One Notes

Mackenzie Heizer started in the circle for the Mount, pitching a perfect game. The senior went the full 5 innings, striking out 9 batters. None of the Yeshiva batters got the ball out of the infield.

The offense exploded for 8 runs in the first inning. The Mount sent 13 batters to the plate. 

Rachel Heizer smacked two triples in three at-bats.

Taylor Wittick, R. Heizer and Rianna Laughridge all scored two runs.

R. Heizer and M. Heizer both had two RBIs in the game. 

All 11 batters during the game for Dolphins reached base safely.

Game Two Notes

R. Heizer started in the cirlce for the Mount, going the full 6 innings, allowing only one hit with 8 strikeouts. She also went 3-for-3 on the day with two runs scored.

Laughridge went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs, Kierstyn Bourdeau went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs, and Breeze Lyn Morita collected two hits in three at-bats. 

Four Dolphins, (Samantha Broo, R. Heizer, Bourdeau and Meagan Earley) all hit doulbes.
