NEWBURGH, NY - The CMSV Softball team returned to action on Thursday morning in the first game of the 2017 Skyline Conference Championships. The no. 5-seed Dolphins took on no. 4-seed Farmingdale State in a single elimination game.
Rams starting pitcher Jaxie Collard limited the Dolphins bats to just four hits, leading her team to a 3-0 win.
Mackenzie Heizer took the hard luck loss for the Dolphins, as the senior, in the final game of her illustrious career, pitched 6 innings, allowing three runs on 9 hits, while striking out two batters.
Taylor Wittick led-off the game with a double down the left field line, but Collard retired the next three batters, quelling the scoring threat.
Collard didn't allow another runner past first base, while the Rams scored a run in the 1st, 3rd and 5th innings.
The Dolphins end the 2017 season with a 21-16 record.
