OLD WESTBURY, NY - The CMSV Softball team returned to action on Sunday afternoon, traveling to Long Island to take on SUNY Old Westbury in a pivotal late season Skyline Conference doubleheader. The Dolphins won both games, dominating 12-1 in game one, then cruising to a 7-2 victory in game two.
Game One Notes
Mackenzie Heizer started in the circle for the Mount, pitching all 5 innings, allowing three hits and one earned run to earn her 4th win of the season.
The Dolphins offense erupted for 14 hits and scored at least one run in all 5 innings. Eight of the nine starting hitters in the CMSV lineup picked up at least one hit.
The top-2 batters in the CMSV lineup, Taylor WIttick and
Samantha Broo, scored five runs combined. While the 4-5-6 hitters,
Rachel Heizer, M. Heizer and
Katie Moos, combined for 7 RBIs.
R. Heizer and
Sophia Herrera both had perfect days at the plate, going 3-for-3.
Game Two Notes
R. Heizer started in the circle for the Dolphins and the junior delivered a complete game performance, scattering five hits and allowing two earned runs.
At the plate, R. Heizer went 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs. Broo went 3-for-3 with two runs scored.
Once again the entire lineup chipped in with eight of the nine starting batters collecting at least one hit.
All seven of the Dolphins runs came in the 3rd and 4th innings, with all five runs in the 3rd being unearned runs.
The Dolphins enter the final week of the regular season with two Skyline Conference doubleheaders remaining.
