SJC-LI Downs CMSV In Baseball Doubleheader

Dolphins offense stymied for 8 hits in two games

PATCHOGUE, NY - The CMSV Baseball team returned to the diamond on Thursday afternoon, traveling to Greg Alfano Field on the campus of St. Joseph's College-Long Island, to host the Golden Eagles in a Skyline Conference doubleheader. The Dolphins only mustered eight hits, while committing seven errors, in a doubleheader loss, falling 10-3 in game one and 10-0 in game two.

In game one, the Dolphins had two runners on in the 1st but both were picked off by Golden Eagles starter Nick Clemente.

Things remained scoreless through three innings, but SJC-LI would break through scoring two to take a 2-0 lead.

The Dolphins would get one back in the bottom of the inning, when Emanuel Giumarra would score on a throwing error by the Golden Eagles to make it 2-1.

In the 5th, the Golden Eagles would score four runs and tack on two more in the 6th to take a commanding 8-1 lead.

The Golden Eagle relievers would pitch 3 innings of 2-hit ball while striking out four batters to hold the lead.

In game two, Jeremy Glazer cruised through four innings, allowing only two hits. In the 5th, SJC broke through for one run, to take a 1-0 lead. Things would unravel for the Dolphins in the 6th inning, as they would allow six runs to score on just three hits, due in large part to three errors committed by the defense. The big blow came via a grand slam to right center field to put SJC ahead 7-0.

They would add three more runs in the 7th and shut down the Dolphins in the bottom of the 7th to earn the sweep.
