Softball Splits In Final Day At FastPitch Dreams Classic

CMSV wins over St. Joseph's (CT); Fall to D-II Mansfield

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The CMSV Softball team wrapped up play at the 2017 FastPitch Dreams Classic on Friday afternoon. The Mount earned a 6-0 win over the University of Saint Joseph's (CT) but lost their finale against Division-II Mansfield 12-2.

After 10 games played in South Carolina, the Dolphins earned six wins versus four losses.

In game one, Rachel Heizer was stellar in the circle, as the junior allowed just four hits over seven innings, while striking out eight batters.

R. Heizer also collected two hits in four at-bats but the sister Mackenzie Heizer, along with Alanna Alioto-Reyes and Taylor Wittick all collected three hits apiece. All 9 batters in the Mount lineup collected at least one hit, with Rianna Laughridge and Taylor Milata collecting two hits each.

In game two, their final game of the Classic, the Dolphins pitching couldn't hold the Mansfield bats down. M. Heizer and R. Heizer each gave up four earned runs.

The Dolphins scored their runs in the second and fifth innings, with the first coming on an RBI single by Kierstyn Bourdeau and the final run came on an RBI groundout by Samantha Broo with the game in hand.
