FORT PIERCE, FL - The CMSV Baseball team returned to the diamond on Thursday afternoon, for Day 3 of their Spring Break trip. The Dolphins took on Bethany College in two, seven inning doubleheaders.
The Mount took game one 6-5 but lost 11-2 in game two, the team now sits at 4-2 to start the 2017 season.
Evan Brown started game one for CMSV and the senior righty went six innings for a quality start, giving up only one earned run, while striking out five batters.
James Valenti, drove in two runs on the day, as the Dolphins took advantage of two critical Bethany errors, as the team scored two unearned runs off of the Bethany starting pitcher.
Brandon Pasquale,
Luis Castillo and
Zachary Saunders all had a hit and one run scored, the Mount's 4-9 hitters scored all six CMSV runs.
Robert Negron came in the game to record the final two outs in the 7th inning to earn his first save of the season and preserving Brown's first win of the season .
In game two, the Dolphins were held to five hits over seven innings. After surrendering two unearned runs in the second inning, CMSV bounced back in the third, scoring one of their own on an RBI single to left field by
Honorio Pena.
Pena was responsible for the Dolphins other run, as he flied out to left field, with two runners on, allowing Saunders to score from third.
