Softball Splits Against Rutgers-Camden & Wisconsin-Stout

CMSV enters day 3 at Myrtle Beach with 2-2 record

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The CMSV Softball team returned to action on Tuesday afternoon at the FastPitch Dreams Spring Classic. The Mount took on Rutgers-Camden and the University of Wisconsin-Stout, eventually after an early morning rain delay put the games on hold.

The Dolphins were able to win their first game of the day against Rutgers-Camden but they lost to the University of Wisconsin-Stout putting CMSV's record at 2-2.

In the 7-1 victory over Rugters-Camden, Rachel Heizer did it all, as the junior threw seven innings in the circle, giving up one run on seven  hits, while striking out six batters. At the plate she drove in five of the teams seven runs, while collecting four hits in four at-bats. Mackenzie Heizer scored three runs and also collected four hits. The Dolphins 2-7 hitters accounted for 15 of the teams 16 hits.

After giving up a run in the second inning, Heizer doubled in the third and fifth innings giving CMSV a 4-1 lead.

In game two against the Wisconsin-Stout Blue Devils, the Dolphins bats went quiet, as starting pitcher Beth Wood limited the Mount to just six hits over five innings, while CMSV pitching surrendered 14 runs after just three innings of play.
