Dolphins Drop 4th Straight In Loss To Golden Eagles

Alkhulaidi Notches 5th Double-Double Of The Season In Loss

RIVERDALE, NY - The CMSV Men's Basketball team returned to action, hosting St. Joesph's-Long Island on Saturday afternoon in a key Skyline Conference game. The Dolphins came back from an 11 point halftime deficit to take a lead in the second half, but the Golden Eagles clamped down, earning a 72-59 victory over the Dolphins, dropping the Mount to 2-10 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

Ammad Alkhulaidi led the Dolphins, notching his 5th double-double of the season, as the junior scored 13 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. Austin Mick connected on 4-of-7 from 3-point land en route to a career-high 12 points.

The Mount fell behind 7-4 just four minutes into the game but the Dolphins scored the next six points, capped off by an Alkhulaidi layup to make the score 10-7 with 13:32 left in the first half.

The Dolphins took a 15-11 lead on a 3-pointer by Khalil Shorter with 10:51 left in the half but the Golden Eagles would outscore CMSV 19-4 over the final 10+ minutes of the first half to take a 30-19 lead into the half.

To start the second half the home side trimmed the halftime deficit all the way down to three points less than four minutes into play on a Jason Barrera put back, making the score 35-32.

The Dolphins continued to hang around and would eventually take a 47-46 lead after Mick's second straight 3-pointer with 11:15 to go in the game.

The game would go back and forth over the next few possessions, but the Dolphins would once again go in front thanks to a layup by Andrew Curiel to make the score 52-49 with 8:46 to go.

Down the stretch however, the Dolphins struggled to score, as over the final 8:46, the Dolphins were outscored 23-7, as St. Joe's would win by a score of 72-59.
