Dolphins Win 2nd In A Row, 77-64 Over USMMA

Hickman leads CMSV with 16 points

RIVERDALE, NY - The CMSV Men's Basketball team returned to the court on Tuesday night, hosting the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) in a Skyline Conference match-up. The Dolphins won their second game in a row, downing the Mariners 77-64 to improve to 6-13 overall and 4-6 in conference play.

The Mount was led by Myron Hickman who came off the bench to score 16 points, while Jason Barrera scored 10 points off the bench. Andrew Curiel stuffed the stat sheet, chipping in with six points, a team-high five assists and a team-high 10 rebounds.

The Dolphins bench contributed 52 points to the winning effort.

CMSV only trailed twice the entire game, both times coming in the first nine minutes of the half. The Dolphins defense was everywhere in the first half, as they held USMMA to 32% from the field and more importantly, forced 17 first half turnovers.

After falling behind 10-9 at the 11:27 mark of the first half, the Dolphins responded by going on a 14-2 over the next seven minutes of action to take an 11 point lead. The run was capped off on a layup by Krystian Kopec.

Kopec would nail a three pointer a few minutes later to put the Dolphins back up by 11
but USMMA didn't go away as the visitors ended the half scoring the final five points to make the score 28-22 at the break.

Both teams picked it up on the offensive end in the second half, as each shot over 50% from the field in the final 10 minutes of action.

After trading buckets to start the half, the Dolphins pushed their lead back up to double digits at the 16:42 mark after an Austin Mick 3-pointer made the score 36-24.

The Mariners would pull to within seven points at the 10:26 mark on a jumper by Christian Wittendorf but Matthew Sowah would answer back with a layup and David Collins sank two free throws to make the score 50-39 with 8:03 left in the game.

Hickman would seal the game for the Dolphins with a 3-pointer at the 3:56 mark to give CMSV a 17 point lead at 65-48 and the home side's lead would not drop below 11 points for the rest of the game.
