PURCHASE, NY - The CMSV Women's Basketball team returned to action on Wednesday evening, traveling to take on Purchase College in a Skyline Conference matchup. The Dolphins extended their season long winning streak to 6 games with a 90-49 victory to improve to 10-5 overall and 6-2 in conference play.
Brittany Carroll came off the bench to lead all players in scoring with 22 points. The senior guard connected on 6-of-13 from 3-point land in just 23 minutes of play.
Ryan Doherty added 14 points, while connecting on 4-of-8 from distance and freshman
Dez Brown snatched a game-high 10 rebounds, while scoring 12 points to tally her second career double-double.
The Mount scored the first 12 points of the game to lead 12-0 a little over three minutes into the game but that lead was short lived as Purchase responded by scoring the next eight points to cut the lead to 12-8 with 5:28 left in the first quarter. CMSV would end the quarter outscoring the Panthers 17-6, capped off by one of Carroll's six three's to take a 29-14 lead after 10 minutes of play.
In the second quarter, the Dolphins continued to shine on offense, while clamping down on the defensive end. CMSV held Purchase to just eight points and 25% shooting over the course of the second quarter. The Dolphins shot 53% and controlled the boards, out-rebounding the home side 12-5. The Dolphins lead grew to as much as 26 points in the final minute of play of the half, when
Kristen Merrell made a layup to make the score 48-26.
Throughout the third and fourth quarters, the Dolphins continued to build their lead thanks to great shooting from 3-point land and unselfish play.
CMSV connected on a season-high 17 3-pointers , while dishing out 24 assists on 34 made field goals, led by
Christina Barone who had eight assists and Merrell who added seven assists.

Kaitlin McGeown made free throw to make the score 79-37. A late three pointer by
Gabriella Melgar, in the final minute of play put the Dolphins over the 90 point barrier for the fourth time this season.
