NEW YORK, NY - The CMSV Women's Volleyball team returned to action Friday night in a non-conference tri-match hosted by NYU. The Dolphins took on St. Mary's (Md.) in the first game, then challenged the host Violets.
The Mount dropped a tough four set match the St. Mary's in the first match 25-23, 22-25, 25-22, 25-17. In the second match NYU swept away the Dolphins by the scores of, 25-15, 25-17, 25-18.
In the first match, the Dolphins matched the total team kills of the Seahawks at 47, but St. Mary's was less error prone, as they made 12 less errors over the four sets than the Mount.
Tara Maloney led all players with 24 kills, while also chipping in with a solo block, one service ace and 14 digs. Setter
Nicole Henderson returned to form, tallying a game-high 40 assists, while
Chrissy Sewell totaled 28 digs, while
Kristine Javier added 20.
In the final matchup of the night, the Dolphins lead attacker, Maloney was held in check only tallying seven kills over three sets, while
Patsy Sewell added in six kills and 11 digs.
The Dolphins were unable to get a rhythm going against the Violets as they totaled a .058 hitting percentage compared to a .280% tallied by NYU.
