Softball Falls To MSMC In Doubleheader

Dolphins Fall 4-1 in G1 & 6-2 in G2

NEWBURGH, NY - The CMSV Softball team returned to action Saturday afternoon, taking on Mount Saint Mary's College in a Skyline Conference doubleheader. The Dolphins dropped both games, falling to 6-12 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

MSMC 4 CMSV 1 - Game 1

Mackenzie Heizer started for the Dolphins going six innings while giving up four earned runs, while striking out eight Knight batters. She was out dueled by Knights starter Cindy Connolly who went the distance giving up one earned run on five hits, while striking out eight batters.

Rachel Heizer drove in the lone Dolphins run in the sixth inning with an RBI double to left center, which scored Katie Moos who singled in the at-bat prior to Heizer.

MSMC 6 CMSV 2 - Game 2

Once again the Dolphins bats were stymied by the Knights. MSMC starter Victoria Goldbach pitched seven innings, surrendering only two hits on seven hits while striking out seven batters.

CMSV starter Rachel Heizer gave up six earned runs on 12 hits over five innings in the circle.

Trailing 2-0 entering the third inning, the Dolphins rattled off two runs to even the score. The scored started with two outs when Samantha Broo worked a walk. She then got to second on a Danielle Maffei single, setting up Moos with two runners on base. Moos delivered a single to center, which scored Broo to make the score 2-1. The next batter, R. Heizer would also single allowing Maffei to score and even it at 2-2.

In the next half inning, Heizer gave up three runs and the Dolphins were unable to muster any rallies in the final four innings of play.

The team returns to action tomorrow when they will take on St. Joseph's Brookln starting at 12pm in Bellerose, NY
