Dolphins Win 4th In A Row With Win Over Baruch

CMSV Goes Off For 21 Hits

STATEN ISLAND, NY - The CMSV Baseball team returned to action Thursday afternoon, hosting Baruch College in a non-conference matchup. The Dolphins offense exploded for 21 hits and defeated the Bearcats 13-5 to improve to 6-17 on the season.

Frank Angeles picked up his first win of the season, tossing six innings, while giving up three runs on 11 hits and striking out five Bearcats.

After giving up a run in the top of the first, the Dolphins answered back in the bottom half of the inning. Steven Giustino, who scored five runs on the day, smacked a single to right, then stole second base and was awarded third on a balk. Keith Schroeher drove home Giustino with an RBI single to center to even the score at one.

In the second, John T McEwan scored on a Bearcat error to give CMSV a 2-1 lead, which they wouldn't give up the rest of the game.

The Dolphins loaded the bases in the third inning and then scored a run when Keith Brodesser hit into a fielders choice, allowing Giustino to score, to take a 3-2 lead.

Baruch pushed one run across in their half of the fourth to pull back to within one but CSMV responded with two of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Joseph Senisi hit a ground-rule double, then came around to score on an RBI single by Michael Kochen to make it 4-2. Kochen would score two batters later on an RBI single by Schroeher.

In the sixth inning the Dolphins scored two more runs, playing small ball. After the first three batters of the inning reached, Matthew Nesensohn was hit by a pitch, which forced in Kochen to make it 6-2. Two batters later Brandon Pasquale hit a sac fly to center, which allowed Giustino to score making the score 7-3.

The Dolphins blew up for four more runs in the seventh inning and two more in the eighth inning, while the Dolphins pitchers allowed only two runs over the final four innings.

CMSV returns to action Saturday when they travel to Long Island to take on Skyline foe St. Joseph's College- Long Island in a DH scheduled to begin at 12pm.
