RIVERDALE, NY - The CMSV Baseball team played four Skyline Conference games on Saturday and Sunday, coming away with three wins, including a sweep of Yeshiva on Sunday afternoon.
The three wins push the Dolphins record to 5-17 and 3-7 in Skyline play.
Saturday 4/16 vs Farmingdale State
Farmingdale State 5 CMSV 3 - Game 1
The Dolphins opened up game one vs. FSC, getting up 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning, thanks to the play of Matt Nesensohn, who drove in and scored the two Dolphins runs. He singled home
Keith Schroeher to start things off, then he scored and unearned run on an FSC outfield error to make it 2-0.
Nesensohn was responsible for the other Dolphins run as he hit a sac fly to right allowing
Craig Weber to score in the fifth inning.
CMSV starter
Michael Kochen was effective, lasting eight innings and giving up four hits and five runs (four earned). He lasted into the ninth but was replaced by
Joseph Crosser, after giving up a single, a stolen base and a hit batsmen.
Crosser gave up only one hit but allowed both inherited runners to score, giving the Rams a 5-3 lead.
CMSV 3 Farmingdale St. 2 - Game 2
In game two the Dolphins came back to win in dramatic fashion, scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to get a walk-off win.
Tyler Krolikowski started and lasted 6.2 innings for CMSV as the senior struck out four batters, gave up four hits and surrendered two runs (one earned).
Trailing 2-0 entering the bottom of the seventh, the Dolphins started the inning with back-to-back singles by
Brandon Pasquale and
John T McEwan, the next batter
Xavier Ruiz, sacrificed both runners into scoring position, setting up the top of the Dolphins lineup.
Weber grounded out to first base, allowing Pasquale to score and make the score 2-1, the next batter, Schroeher, smacked a single scoring McEwan and tying the game at 2-2.
Schroeher took second on a wild pitch, then
Steven Giustino walked, setting up Nesensohn, who delivered a walk-off single to right giving CMSV the victory.
Sunday 4/17 CMSV vs. Yeshiva
CMSV 9 Yeshiva 4 - Game 1
The Dolphins bats woke up in a big way in game one, as the team tagged Yesiva pitching for nine runs and nine hits, while only striking out one time as a team.
Robert Negron, started for CMSV and picked up his first win of the season, as he went 7 innings allowing three runs on seven hits, while striking out seven batters.
Siddeeq Ali pitched the final two innings, giving up one run on four hits.
CMSV got on the board in the first inning thanks to a two run double by
Michael Kochen and then in the third inning Giustino hit a sac fly to center allowing Schroeher to score and make it 3-0.
Yeshiva answered in the bottom of the third as they cut the lead to 3-2 thanks to a two run inside the park home run.
The Dolphins took control of the game in the eighth as they scored five runs, with the big blow coming of the bat of Schroeher, who cleared the bases with a three run triple to right center field.
CSMV 12 Yeshiva 3 - Game 2
Evan Brown started and went the distance for the Dolphins, allowing three earned runs on six hits, while striking out a career high 11 batters.
The Dolphins blew the game wide open in the fourth and fifth innings, as the team combined to score nine runs and turn a 2-1 lead into an 11-1 lead.
In the fourth, Kochen and Giustino both had two run singles and then in the fifth, four straight singles gave the Dolphins three more runs to put the game out of reach.

This week the Dolphins are scheduled to play two Skyline DH against St. Joseph's-Long Island on 4/23 then play St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Sunday for senior day at 12pm.
