STATEN ISLAND, NY - The CMSV Baseball team returned to the diamond Wednesday afternoon to take on the College of Staten Island in a non-conference single game matchup.
The CSI Dolphins downed CMSV 10-6, thanks to a six run sixth inning. The loss drops CMSV to 2-16 overall.
Frank Angeles started for CMSV and pitched 4.1 innings, giving up four runs on four hits and left the game with his team leading 6-2.
CMSV broke through in the third inning scoring two runs thanks to
Brandon Pasquale's two run single, which scored
Matthew Nesensohn and
Steven Giustino.
In the fifth inning, CMSV sent eight batters to the plate and scored four runs on five hits. John T. McEwan started the scoring off with an RBI single to center which allowed
Keith Brodesser to score. Two batters later
Craig Weber cleared the bases with a two run double down the left field line scoring McEwan and Senisi making the score 5-2. Giustino singled home Weber two batters later but
Keith Schroeher was thrown out at the plate trying to score to end the inning but CMSV still led 6-1.
In the bottom of the fifth Angeles came out to start the inning but was relieved by
Siddeeq Ali, five batters into the inning and was able to escape the inning allowing three inherited runners to score to make it 6-4 after five innings.
CSI exploded for six runs in the sixth inning off of CMSV reliever
Evan Brown, to take a 10-6 lead.
CMSV was unable to mount any comeback as they got only one hit over the final three innings.
The CMSV Dolphins return to action Saturday when they will host Farmingdale State at 12pm.
