RIVERDALE, NY - The CMSV men's lacrosse team hosted SUNY Cobleskill on Tuesday night in the team's 2016 home opener. The Dolphins were unable to hold a three goal halftime lead and lost 11-10 the the Fighting Tigers. The loss drops CMSV to 0-2 on the season.
Michael Puchalski put the Dolphins on the board in less than five minutes into the game when he buried an unassisted goal, with CMSV a man up, to tie the game at 1-1. Joshua James would add a goal seconds after Cobleskill scored to even the game at 2.
The Dolphins would trail 3-2 entering the second period but would control play the entire time, leading to three goals in under three minutes. Michael McEnaney,
Germain Ngaba and
Ken Brown-Oda all scored in that stretch to give the Dolphins a 5-3 lead.
Puchalski and James would score again late in the second period to give CMSV a 7-4 lead heading into halftime.
Cobleskill would regain control of the game in the third period scoring four unanswered goals in the period to take an 8-7 lead heading into the final 15 minutes of play.
The Dolphins trailed for much of the fourth but pulled to within 10-9 after McEnaney scored again. Late in the period, CMSV had several strong attacks but were unable to convert. With just under two minutes to play Cobleskill would net another goal to push their lead to 11-9.
CMSV returns to action Thursday at 6:30pm when they will host Green Mountain College at Purchase Field.
