AUBURNDALE, FL - The CMSV baseball team played SUNY New Paltz on Monday afternoon at the RussMat Invitational Spring Break Tournament. The Dolphins lost 8-4 to the Hawks to tall to 1-5 on the season and 1-2 during their Florida trip.
Matt Nesesohn went 4-for-5 with two runs scored, while
Keith Schroeher went 2-for-4 with 2RBI. The Dolphins combined for 10 hits and left eight men on base.
Michael Kochen started for CMSV going 7.2 innings, giving up four earned runs and 11 hits while striking out two Hawk batters.
The Dolphins jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning thanks to RBI singles by Nesesohn and
Steven Giustino.
New Paltz would answer back scoring four runs in the next three innings to lead 4-2 midway through the sixth inning.
In the seventh inning, the Dolphins tied the game up thanks to a two run single by Schroeher but in the eighth inning, the Hawks scored four runs and would shut down CMSV in the eighth and ninth to secure the win.
The Dolphins return to action Tuesday when they will take on Elmhurst College in a doubleheader with the first game scheduled to start at 12pm.
