RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Four different College of Mount Saint Vincent men's lacrosse players netted goals Saturday afternoon at Riverdale Country School, as the Dolphins dropped a 13-4 decision to visiting Manhattanville College.
CMSV (1-6) pulled to within a 2-1 count with
3:50 left in the first period, when defender
James Fitzgerald (2 ct, 7 gb) went the length of the field on a clear to bury a man-down tally past the Valiants (3-2) goalie.
Mount Saint Vincent added three more goals in the second stanza, with
Michael Puchalski ripping the rope for his 11th tally of the season with
11:17remaining until halftime.
Germain Ngaba (7-for-10 FO, game-high 8 gb) followed suit with
5:48 left, before Joshua James's sixth goal of the season found the netting with
1:59 to go, as the Dolphins went into halftime with 7-4 deficit.
Manhattanville outscored the hosts by a 6-0 count over the final 30 minutes to secure the victory.
Ngaba and
Tyler Porter (6-for-11) helped Mount Saint Vincent to acquire offensive possession time, combining to go 13-for-21 at the face-off "x" on the afternoon. Arben Gashi made nine saves in the Dolphins cage over 53:23 of action, before
Frank Bakakos turned aside three Manhattanville shots while allowing just one score.
