Dolphins Win 5th In A Row With 79-45 Win Over Baruch

CMSV Gets 59 Points Off The Bench

RIVERDALE, NY - The CMSV women's basketball team continued their late season surge on Monday night, winning their 5th straight game in a 79-45 victory over defending CUNYAC Champion Baruch.

The Dolphins were led by their bench who outscored the entire Bearcats team 59-45. Freshman Kelly Oliver led the way tallying a career-high 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting, Allison Clarke added 10 points and six rebounds. 

CMSV started off slow in the first quarter as they struggled to find the rhythm on the offensive end, the team shot 5-of-23 over the first 10 minutes of play, managing to score only 12 points and trailed by one at the end of the first.

In the second quarter, CMSV scuffled to begin the half and with 7:25 left in the quarter and trailing 16-14, Coach Pruitt inserted five new players looking to spark the team and spark the team they did. The Dolphins ended the half on a 16-5 run, with LauraMae Coochi adding four points, K. Oliver adding five points and Morgan Dewberry adding six points, to give their team a 30-21 lead heading into halftime.

CMSV kept up the pressure in the third quarter holding Baruch to 5-of-13 shooting from the field while going 10-of-27 in the period, including 3-of-9 from distance, outscoring their opponents 23-11 in the quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Dolphins kept up their hot shooting as they went 11-for-21 from the field in quarter and saw their lead get to as much as 36 points late in the quarter. 

The Dolphins return to action Wednesday night when they will take on the top-ranked Skyline team, 13-0 Sage College at 5:30pm. Live stats and video will be available.
