UNION, NJ - The CMSV men's volleyball team returned to action on Thursday night, squaring off with defending Skyline Conference champion Kean University. The Cougars dropped the Dolphins in straight sets, winning by the scores of 17-25, 16-25, 17-25. The loss drops CMSV to 0-7 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
As a team, the Dolphins totaled 23 kills on 56 total attacks to hit .107% over three sets.
Tyler Cucullu led the attack for CMSV with 11 kills, while hitting .292%.
Logan Dickover had 19 assists.
In the first set, Kean opened up an early 6-1 lead but would get back into the set after back-to-back kills by
Owen Smith and Cucullu to cut the lead to 10-7. The Dolphins wouldn't get any closer for the remainder of the set.
The second set started off as a back and forth affair with the teams trading points off of their attack. CMSV would get to within one point after a Cucullu kill but Kean responded scoring the next four points to regain momentum.
Kean controlled the third for the duration of the set forcing the Dolphins into a negative hitting percentage.
The Dolphins return to action on Saturday when they will host Cairn University at 1pm and Emmanuel College at 5pm in a tri-match at the Peter Jay Sharp Center.
