RIVERDALE, NY - The CMSV men's basketball team hosted Sage College on Thursday night, in a game that saw the Gators defeat the Dolphins 85-58, dropping the team to 8-14 overall and 7-10 in Skyline play.
Jamir Ferebee led three Dolphins in double figures with 16 points, 14 of which came in the first half.
Jose Maestre, making his first start of the season, put in a career-high 12 points, while
Mike Mulligan added 11 points.
Early on in the first half, both the Dolphins and Gators were going back and forth trading baskets, with neither team taking a lead larger than three points.
Melvin Ford would put the Gators up 12-11 with 13:48 left in the first half but the Dolphins would answer back with an 8-0 run highlighted by a 3-pointer by Maestre and an And-1 by Ferebee, putting CMSV up 19-12 with 11:30 left.
Ferebee would put in a layup with 7:57 left in the half to put the Dolphins up 23-19, they would only get two more field goal the rest of the half, as Sage closed the half on a 26-4 run to lead by 18 points going into halftime.
In the second half the Dolphins again struggled to find the offense as they shot only 32% from the field over the final 20 minutes. Maestre would score nine of his 12 in the second half, including two more three pointers.
The Dolphins will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday when they will host SUNY Old Westbury at 3pm.
