Carroll Nets 1000th Point In Blowout Of Yeshiva

Dolphins Have Now Won 3 In A Row

RIVERDALE, NY - The CMSV Women's Basketball team returned to action Thursday night, hosting Skyline Conference foe, Yeshiva Univeristy. The Dolphins jumped out to an early lead and never let go, as they cruised to an 83-44 win, evening their record at 4-4 overall and putting them at 3-1 in conference play.

Freshman Dez Browne led the Mount with a team-high 14 points and team-high 10 rebounds, to notch her first career double-double, while Ryan Doherty added in 11 points. Senior Gabriella Melgar had a solid all-around game tallying five points, seven rebounds and nine assists, the latter two both career highs.


Senior Brittany Carroll needing five points to become the 8th member of the 1000 point club, scored eight points on the night.
 

Fellow senior, Christina Barone, who scored her 1000th point in the Dolphins last game, was recognized with a pre-game ceremony, added nine points and four assists.
 

As for the action on the floor, the Dolphins opened up the game on a 14-0 run, with 12 of the teams 14 points coming in the paint. The Maccabees were able to get the defecit down to nine points late in the first quarter but that would be as close as the visitors would get for the remainder of the game. 

Despite not making a single 3-pointer in the first half and scoring only 15 points in the second quarter, CMSV still took an 18 point lead into the halftime break.

Once play resumed in the third quarter the Dolphins, as they have all season, dominated play in the third quarter. Less than five minutes into play the lead had more than doubled to 38 points, after a fast break layup by Ryan Doherty
 

The lead would grow to as much as 40 points late in the 4th quarter, as the Dolphins improved their shooting from a 36% performance in the first half to a 54% one in the second half.
