Barone Nets 1000th Point In CMSV Win

Senior Guard Becomes 7th Player In Women's Basketball History To Reach That Mark

PATCHOGUE, NY - The CMSV Women's Basketball team returned to action Tuesday night, as they travel to Long Island to take on Skyline Conference foe, St. Joseph's College. The Dolphins won their second straight game to improve to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Senior Brittany Carroll led four Dolphins who scored in double-figures with a game-high 23 points, on 10-of-20 shooting from the field, while fellow senior Christina Barone scored 15 points and freshman Dez Browne and Haley Garcia added 12 points and 10 points respectively.

With a 3-pointer with 7:16 left in the 3rd quarter, Barone surpassed the 1,000 career point mark, becoming the 7th women's basketball player to join the 1,000 point club. She joins, Courtney Hessemann, Kelly Fraser, Karissa Koerner, Andrea DiNizo, Lauren Percodani and Kaitlin Burud in the exclusive club.

Carroll, who entered the game with 972 career points added to her career total bringing her to 995 points, just five shy of becoming the 8th woman in CMSV basketball history to achieve the 1,0000 career point mark.

As for the game itself, the Dolphins dominated from tip-off as they controlled play the first quarter. With just over 90 seconds left in the quarter, Browne would convert on a layup to give the Dolphins a 13 point lead. They would end the quarter up 10 points and would continue to increase their lead throughout the second quarter. Carroll scored 14 of her 23 in the second frame, including a jumper with 50 seconds left to put the team up by 26, their largest lead of the first half.

The Dolphins didn't let up in the second half as they cooled off a little from their torrid shooting in the first half but they did increase their lead to as much as 39 points late in the third period on a Carroll 3-pointer to make the score 63-24.
