Offense Shines In Blowout Of Baruch

Carroll and Brown Each Score Over 20

NEW YORK, NY - The CMSV Women's Basketball team returned to action for the final time in 2016, as they Dolphins traveled to Baruch College taking on the Bearcats in a non-conference matchup.

The Dolphins scored over 90 points for the second straight game and shot 55% from the field and hit 54% of their shots form 3-point land, downing Baruch 98-71, improving to 6-5 on the season.

Five Dolphins players scored in double figures, led by Brittany Carroll, who went 7-of-10 from 3-point land en route to 25 points. Dez Brown went 11-of-18 from the field, scoring a career high 22 points, while Christina Barone tallied a double-double with 13 points and 13 assists. Ryan Doherty scored 16 points and Kelly Nola added in a season-high 11 points.

The first quarter was a high scoring affair with CMSV shooting 56%, while the Bearcats shot 61%. The Dolphins led 26-25, after the first 10 minutes of play, thanks in large part to the stellar 3-point shooting of Carroll, Doherty and Barone, who combined to shoot 66% from distance in the first quarter. 

The second quarter saw the Dolphins keep up their hot shooting pace, improving to shoot 73% from the field, while stepping up their defense, holding the Bearcats to just 12 points in the quarter. 

In the third quarter, the Dolphins continued to increase their lead, growing the lead to a game-high 30 points, after a 3-pointer by Carroll made the score 73-43 with 4 minutes left in the period.
