Farmingdale Downs CMSV In Men's Basketball Matchup

Andrew Curiel Notches 2nd Straight Double-Double

RIVERDALE, NY - The CMSV men's basketball team returned to action on Saturday afternoon, hosting Skyline Conference foe Farmingdale State. The Rams came away with a 76-64 victory, dropping the Dolphins to 1-4 on the season.

Trevor Johnson went 4-for-6 from 3-point land en route to a game-high 16 points, while Andrew Curiel had a solid all-around game chipping in with 11 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists, to notch his second double-double in as many games.

CMSV came out early in the first half as the more aggressive team and rode hot shooting to take a 27-10 lead midway through the first half. Johnson and Curiel would make clutch jumpers during the Dolphins run and Dolphins crashed the offensive glass, with the team grabbing 12 offensive caroms.

Krystian Kopec tipped in a Jason Barrera missed layup to put the Dolphins up 29-16 with 7:32 left in the half, which would be the only field goal would score in a seven minute stretch, as the Rams embarked on a 17-3 run to close the half and take a one point lead into halftime.

Coming out of the halftime break, the Dolphins scored on their first possession to take a 34-33 lead, which would be the last lead they would hold in the game. After shooting 50% from the 3-point land in the first half, the Dolphins shot 27% from there in the second half, while Farmingdale was able to find their rhythm shooting 44% from the field and 50% from distance over the final 20 minutes of the game.
