Balanced Attack Not Enough, CMSV Falls To Greensboro

5 Dolphins Score In Double Figures

RIVERDALE, NY - The CMSV Men's Basketball team returned to action on Saturday afternoon, hosting non-conference  opponent Greensboro College. The visiting Pride scored 56 points in the second half, and surged to a 94-87 victory. The loss drops the Mount to 1-6 on the season, while the Pride move to 5-3 on the year. 

The Dolphins had a balanced scoring attack, with five players scoring in double-figures, led by Ammad Alkhulaidi who scored 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Andrew Curiel put up his fourth straight double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Nick Nemergut and Kahlil Shorter added 12 points apiece, while Jason Barrera added 10 points. 

The Mount took their first lead of the game on a Nemergut layup less than three minutes into the game and would lead for the remainder of the half. The Dolphins lead would grow to as much as 11 points midway through the first half, on a 3-pointer by Ramiel Coleman to make the score 25-14 with 11:22 left in the half.

The Dolphins took the lead thanks to a 15-6 run spanning just over three minutes of play.

The Pride would end the half on a 22-10 run and take a one point lead into halftime. The Dolphins committed 18 turnovers in the first 20 minutes of action, leading to 22 points for the visitors. 

The pace of the game picked up considerably in the second half and both teams shot over 56% in the final 20 minutes of action.

The visitors would take a 10 point lead with 15:07 left in the game on a Donovan Griffin jumper. Griffin led all players with 20 points and 18 rebounds, both game-highs. 

Greensboro's lead would swell to as much as 13 points in the second half  on another Griffin jumper to make the score 73-60.

Shorter would make a layup with just over three minutes remaining to cut the lead to five at 77-72 but the Dolphins would give up back-to-back 3-pointers to Terrance Outing, which sealed the game for the Pride with just over 90 seconds remaining.
