NEW YORK, NY - The CMSV Dolphins returned to action Monday evening, looking to capture their first win of the 2016-17 season, as they traveled to Nat Hollman Gym to take on CCNY in a non-conference matchup. The Dolphins used a 33-point 4th quarter, to cruise to a 91-63 victory, improving to 1-2 on the season.
Skyline Conference Co-Player of the Week,
Christina Barone led the way notching her first double-double of the season, tallying 14 points while dishing out 14 assists. Three other Mount players scored in double figures, led by
Brittany Carroll who scored a season-high 19 points, while
Kristen Merrell and
Ryan Doherty each chipped in with 11 points.
Both teams had no problem finding offense in the first quarter, as CCNY shot 64% form the field. The Mount shot a respectable 46% in the first 10 minutes of action as they trailed by two at the end of the quarter.
The Dolphins got it going in the second quarter, as they only missed six shots in the entire period. Barone was perfect from the floor in the first and second period, as she scored 12 of her 14 in the first 20 minutes.
The Mount only led by one going into the halftime break and the game would remain close throughout the third period but the fourth quarter belonged to CMSV, especially Carroll, who scored 15 of her 19 in the final 10 minutes as the Dolphins outscored the Beavers 33-13, holding the home side to 22% shooting.
