The Dolphins took on the opposing Lehman College Lightning in the "Battle of the Bronx" yesterday afternoon during a non-conference matchup. The game turned into a true battle as both teams scored early on in the first half and had repeated SOG attempts (Lehman with 4, CMSV with 14) but the Mount took the victory after 90 minutes of intensive play.
Chelsey Harris of Lehman scored first in the game 16:25, but CMSV answered right away with a goal of their own less than 20 seconds later from Erin Dailey.
Scoring advantage may have been due in part to CMSV's 6 corner kicks; Lehman had 0 attempts. CMSV's 3 additional points came in the 2nd period, 2 from #16 Julia McGowan in the 51' and 71' as well as Joyce Pagliuca at 68:07.
McGowan has now achieved 12 goals in the season, making her the highest average scorer for the Mount.
The Battle of the Bronx concluded in a 4-1 victory for CMSV whose record now stands at 7-4-0.
