The College of Mount Saint Vincent women's soccer team dropped its non-conference contest to Dickinson College, 6-1, at the Athletic Field at Marillac
on Saturday afternoon. The Dolphins fall to 7-5 overall.
Mount Saint Vincent struck first, less than two minutes into the contest, as junior midfielder Julia McGowen rebounded the ball inside the box and tipped it into the net for her tenth goal of the year, to give the home team the lead.
The Red Devils (5-4-3) responded by scoring four goals in a span of 35:15, beginning in the ninth minute, to give the visiting team a commanding 4-1 lead. Dickenson added two more goals in the second stanza to earn the victory.
The Dolphins were on the attack for the final seven minutes of the match, producing seven shots and having three corner kick opportunities, but could not find the back of the net.
Dickinson College had the edge in shots, 18-15, while each team had eight corner kicks. Junior goalkeeper
Elizabeth Martin made nine saves for the Dolphins.
Mount Saint Vincent will be back in action
on Tuesday, for a Skyline Conference matchup against Sarah Lawrence College, beginning at
7:00 p.m. The match will take place on the campus of Purchase College and the Gryphons will be the official home team.
