Dolphins Down Purchase 2-0; Advance To Semifinals

Weber & Dailey Score For CMSV

RIVERDALE, NY - The #3 CMSV women's soccer team returned to action Saturday afternoon, hosting #6 Purchase College, in the Skyline Conference Women's Soccer Championships First Round.

The Dolphins controlled possession for the majority of the game and used two second half goals to secure a 2-0 victory over the visiting Panthers. With the victory, the Dolphins will move on to the Semifinals, where they will face-off against Mount Saint Mary's College at 3pm on November 2nd.

In the first half, the Dolphins were the more aggressive and ball dominant team, as they attempted 10 shots, compared to three by Purchase. Were it not for Panthers keeper Rachel Mizrahi and her five big saves in the first half, the Dolphins were sure to have had a lead after the first 45' of play.

The Dolphins wasted no time in the start of the second half to test the Panthers keeper as they took two on target shots in the first 50 seconds of play.

CMSV broke through in the 57' when Nicole Weber slipped a shot in front of the keeper to the far post, to giver her side a 1-0 lead. Weber was setup on the play by Kelsey Wasnesky who did well to win a header, which she passed on to Julia McGowan, who then set up Weber inside the six yard box.

Less than five minutes later, Erin Dailey got on the score sheet when she was able to beat Mizrahi on a beautiful pass from Meaghan Cleary

The Dolphins possession continued for the final 28' of play as they continued to maintain their aggressive style of play and held the Panthers without a shot for the entire second half.
