RIVERDALE, NY - CMSV Women's Soccer defeated the City College of New York Beavers yesterday afternoon to secure playoff game time in the coming weeks. The Dolphins celebrated a significant 5-1 victory.
The Mount shined throughout the entirety of the 90 minute play, especially CM Julia McGowan who achieved 3 goals for the night. All of her goals emerged during the first period in the 2', 7' and 23'. She continues her streak as one of the leading DIII scorers in the nations with now 21 goals to her name. Each of the goals were partially assisted by Kelly Gibison, with additional help from Erin Dailey and Lauren Tate.
The other two goals for the Mount came off shots from Meaghan Cleary and Laura Schools. CCNY's lone goal of the match came from Marissa Olsen.
CMSV stunned with 31 shots throughout the match, with 20 on goal. On the other hand CCNY only attempted 1 shot on goal which resulted in their one point of the night. CMSV maintained its lead throughout the whole game and the happiness could not be contained as the challenge drew to a close after almost 2 hours of play.
The Dolphins will take on their first Skyline Conference game against Purchase College this Saturday at 12 on Marillac Field. The outcome will determine their standing for the semi final and final championship games coming up next week.
