RIVERDALE, NY - The CMSV Women's soccer team returned to action on Tuesday afternoon, hosting St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn, in a non-conference matchup. The Dolphins got three goals in the first and second half, while only allowing one shot, to cruise to a 6-0 victory. The win improves the Mount's record to 11-6-0 and 7-2-0 in Skyline Conference play and due to goal differential tie breaker, CMSV clinched the #3 seed in the 2016 Skyline Women's Soccer Championships, which will start this Saturday.
As for the game on the field, the Dolphins got to scoring right away, with
Erin Dailey netting her first of two on the day 3:29 into play. CMSV dominated possession the entire half, as they recorded 24 shots compared to one by the visiting Bears.
In the 19'
Laura Schools joined in on the action, as she scored her first goal of the season to put the home side up 2-0. As the pressure from the Dolphins right and left flanks continued to overwhelm the Bears,
Meaghan Cleary, playing down the right side, took aim at goal in the 25' and buried a shot in the upper left corner to give CMSV a 3-0 lead, which they would take into halftime.
Once play resumed in the second half, the Dolphins wasted little time to get back on the score sheet, as Dailey scored again 3:29 seconds into play in the second half. Less than 30 seconds later,
Julia McGowan scored her team and conference leading 18th goal of the season to put the Dolphins ahead 5-0. With that goal McGowan tied the All-Time single season goals record.
Kelly Gibison ended the scoring for the Dolphins late in the second half, when she beat the Bears keeper for her 10th goal of the season, setting a new personal career high.
