Dolphins Drop 2-1 Decision At Farmingdale St.

Andrew Gomez Nets Lone CMSV Goal

FARMINGDALE, NY - The CMSV Men's Soccer team returned to action on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Long Island to take on Skyline Conference foe Farmingdale St. The Rams scored twice in the second half to win the game 2-1, dropping the Dolphins to 6-11-1 overall and 5-5 in conference play.

Currently the Dolphins sit in the #6 seed position in the conference standings, with one game remaining in the regular season.

Early on, both teams had chances to take the lead, with the Mount's first shot of the game hitting the crossbar in the 6' and in the 7' the Rams first attempt was smothered by CMSV starting keeper David Melchor, one of his two saves during the game.

The Dolphins got set up in the 23' when the home side committed a foul to set up a CMSV free kick opportunity. The visitors converted on the set piece, when Andrew Gomez blasted a shot past Rams keeper Jeff Valencia to make it 1-0.

Over the final 20 minutes of play in the first half, neither team threatened, with the Dolphins attempting two off target shots, with the Rams attempting one off target shot.

The Rams equalized in the 60' when Jovanni Parkinson buried a shot from 10 yards out. They would go on to push ahead less less than five minutes later, when Parkinson buried his second of the day to make the score 2-1.

The Dolphins attempted 5 shots over the final 25 minutes but the Rams keeper was up to the task turning three shots away and keeping his side ahead.

CMSV closes out the regular season on Tuesday against SUNY Maritime, if the Dolphins secure a victory, they will have clinched the #6 seed for the upcoming Men's Soccer Skyline Championships.
