Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Dolphins Lose to Maritime Privateers in First Overtime Period

The defeat also seals the men's season as they are eliminated from playoff contention.

RIVERDALE, NY - CMSV Men's Soccer faced the Maritime Privateer's yesterday evening in their final push towards playoffs.

The Mount really shined throughout the first period, with scoring from Guy Horcasitas in 9', Andrew Gomez in 34'. Maritime's first goal of the game was a neat header put in off a corner kick from Kieran Donnelly. CMSV doubled Maritime's 6 shots on goal (3 were saved by GK David Melchor) with 12 of their own (10 were saved). They brought the 45 minutes to a close with a 2-1 lead.

CMSV even held tight for a majority of the second period, until Maritime's Donnelly netted his second goal of the day in 80', sending the challenging teams into overtime.

As the sun set over the Hudson, Maritime scored a team's own goal in 96'. That successful shot put an end to the match as well as CMSV's chance at playoff matches for the season. The Dolphins finish with a 6-12-1 record overall, 5-6 in the Skyline Conference.
