NEWBURGH, NY - The CMSV Men's Soccer team dropped their first Skyline Conference decision on Saturday afternoon, losing 2-1 to Mount Saint Mary's. The loss puts the Dolphins at 4-6-1 overall and 3-1 in Skyline play, while MSMC improves to 5-5 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
CMSV struck first in the 28' when
Andrew Gomez netted his third of the season from a free kick. Gomez struck the free kick from 25 yards out and beat the Knights keeper. For the remainder of the half, the Dolphins were only able to attempt two more shots, both off target.
In the second half, the Mount came out more aggressive attempting two shots within the first four minutes of play but in the 51' the Knights leveled the score, as there header from a free kick deflected off a CMSV player and went into the net.
In the 73' MSMC would net the game-winner thanks to Bereket Watts would beat CMSV keeper
David Melchor.
Over the final 18 minutes of play, the Dolphins had a few chances to even the score but MSMC keeper Tyler Biscone was up to the task and stopped four CMSV attempts in the second half of play.
