ELMIRA, NY - The CMSV men's volleyball team took part in the Elmira Men's Volleyball Invitational on Friday night, taking on two top-15 ranked teams in the preseason AVCA coaches poll, #15 Mt. St. Joseph's & #12 Elmira College.
CMSV dropped both matches, falling 3-1 to Mt. St. Joseph's and 3-0 to hosts, Elmira.
#15 Mt. St. Joseph's 3 CMSV 1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-21)The Dolphins won the first set thanks to the great attack play of
Tyler Cucullu and
Neven Skoblar but were ultimately undone by MSJ's serves, which they totaled 16 over the four sets.
Cucullu and Skoblar tallied 14 and 12 kills respectively to lead the Dolphins, while
Logan Dickover dished out 32 assists.
#12 Elmira 3 CMSV 0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-17)The Dolphins got another strong performance from Cucullu who tallied another 10 kills but CMSV was out hit .344% to .153%. The second set was the strongest set for the Dolphins, the team tallied 11 kills and hit .269% but Elmira was to strong at the net totaling 12 blocks.
CMSV returns to action Thursday 2/4 when they will face-off against Skyline foe Kean University.
