Bronxville, N.Y. - The College of Mount Saint Vincent Softball team stopped a five game losing streak on Thursday with a pair of Skyline Conference wins against Sarah Lawrence, downing the Gryphons 16-1 and 17-0. Freshman
Rachel Heizer (Vacaville, Calif.) finished the day with five hits and eight RBI for the Dolphins.

After falling behind 1-0 in game one, Mount Saint Vincent scored three times in the bottom of the first inning to move in front for good in the game.
Mackenzie Heizer (Vacaville, Calif.) keyed the first inning rally with a two-run double with two outs in the inning.

The Dolphins moved out to a 7-1 lead in the third inning with four runs and broke the game open with nine tallies in the fourth inning.
Kathleen Davis (Beacon, N.Y.) drove in two runs with
Casey Cuccio (Medford, N.Y.),
Kathryn Dalton (Northampton, Pa.), Rachel and
Mackenzie Heizer all recording run scoring base hits in the inning.

Mount Saint Vincent pounded out 16 hits in game one on Thursday, including four for extra bases.
Mackenzie Heizer closed the game 3-for-4 with three doubles, four runs scored and three RBI.
Kierstyn Bourdeau (Cheshire, Conn.) went 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Dalton recorded three hits with Davis and
Rachel Heizer each posting a pair of hits each. The Mount finished the game with eight different players with a hit, nine players with a run and six players with an RBI.

Mackenzie Heizer picked up her second win of the season in the opener, working 5.0 innings. She allowed one run on four hits and struck out 11.

Mount Saint Vincent put game two away early, scoring three times in the first inning and eight more times in the second.
Mackenzie Heizer drove in all three first inning runs with a home run and
Rachel Heizer keyed the big second inning with a three-run home run, her first round tripper of the game.

Leading 11-0, Mount Saint Vincent closed out the scoring in the game with six tallies in fourth inning. Heizer lunched her second home run of the game, a grand slam, in the inning and
Alondra Soroa (Bronx, N.Y.) drove in two more runs with a single to center field.

The Dolphins recorded 14 more hits in game two, with
Rachel Heizer going 3-for-4 with two home runs, three runs scored and seven RBI. Heizer holds the team lead in home runs with four and moved into second place in RBI with 18.

Mackenzie Heizer totaled three hits, including a double and a home run to go along with three runs and three RBI. Heizer holds the team lead in RBI with 21.
Joann Guerra (Bronx, N.Y.) finished the game 3-for-5 with two doubles and four runs scored.

Davis took the win in game two, working a complete game shutout. She allowed a first inning hit and struck out eight batters in moving to 2-4 on the season.

Thursday's sweep moves Mount Saint Vincent to 7-14 overall on the season and to 6-1 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Saturday when they play host to Farmingdale State. First pitch at Manhattanville College is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
