Brooklyn, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team dropped game one of a non-conference doubleheader at New York University on Wednesday night by a score of 13-1 and rebounded to earn the split with a 16-10 game two victory. Senior

Steven Giustino (Old Bethpage, N.Y.) each drove in three runs for the Dolphins in game two.
The Dolphins were held to a single run and just three hits in the opener on Wednesday by NYU starter Cameron Serapilio. The Mount jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a
Cristian Lynch (Mastic, N.Y.) run scoring triple in the second, but was held to just two hits the rest of the game.
The Violets moved in front for good in the game with five runs in the home half of the third inning and added six runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to finish off the scoring in the game. Jonathan Iaione drove in a pair of runs with a triple in the third and added a run scoring walk in the fifth. C.J. Picerni contributed a two-run single for NYU in the fifth inning.
Mount Saint Vincent received a hit each from Pace, Lynch and
Casey Surdi (West Islip, N.Y.) in the game with
Tyler Krolikowski (Massapequa, N.Y.) scoring the team's lone run. Pace added a stolen base for the Dolphins in game one.
Sophomore right hander
Evan Brown (St. Albans, N.Y.) took the loss for the Mount in the game after giving up five runs on five hits in 2.2 innings of work.
Juan Brito (Harlem, N.Y.) worked 2.0 innings in relief and Pace made his first appearance of the season, working the final 1.1 innings for the Mount.
NYU got a complete game from Serapilio who worked 7.0 innings allowing just one run on three hits. He struck out seven Mount Saint Vincent batters and surrendered a pair of walks.
In game two, the Dolphins fell behind 10-2 in after three innings before erupting for 14 runs over their final four at-bats. The Dolphins got a run scoring triple from Pace in a two run fourth inning and a two-run single in a two-run fifth frame that cut the Mount's deficit to 10-6.
Trailing by four in their final at-bat, the Mount scored 10 times in the seventh on just two hits. The Dolphins took advantage of four NYU errors in the inning and three walks, while five runners reached after being hit with a pitch. The big hit in the inning was a bases loaded triple from Giustino that delivered the tying and eventual winning run for the Mount.
Surdi and senior
Michael Kuczinski (Millstone Twp., N.J.) led the Dolphins with two hits each in game two with Surdi scoring three times and driving in two runs.
Joseph Senisi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored three runs for the Dolphins in the game and hit his third double of the season.
Pace closed the night 1-for-2 with a triple, two runs and three RBI and Giustino went 1-for-4 with a triple, a run and three runs knocked in.
Keith Schroeher (Riverhead, N.Y.) and Kuczinski each scored two runs in the game for the Dolphins.
Lynch picked up the win in relief for the Dolphins in game two, coming on to work the last 4.0 innings. He allowed one hit, walked five and struck out four for the Mount. Matthew Millus took the loss in relief for the Violets, allowing six earned runs on two hits in 2.0 innings of work.
With the spit, the Dolphins took two of the three games played with NYU and moved to 6-16 overall on the season. The Mount will return to league play on Saturday when it travels to Maritime for a pair of games with the Privateers. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
