Senisi records three hits, Krolikowski earns win in relief

Brooklyn, N.Y. – Led by three hits from junior Joseph Senisi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Tyler Krolikowski's (Massapequa, N.Y.) first win of the season, the College of Mount Saint Vincent Baseball squad snapped an eight game losing streak on Tuesday with a 10-5 non-conference road win at New York University.
 
Mount Saint Vincent fell behind 1-0 early on Tuesday, before plating five runs in the top of the third inning to take their first lead of the day. Nicholas Pace (Cranford, N.J.) drove in the first run with a single with Keith Schroeher (Riverhead, N.Y.) and Craig Weber (Mineola, N.Y.) also producing run scoring base hits in the inning.
 
NYU responded with two runs in the bottom of the third before C.J. Picerni tied the game with a two-run single for the Violets in the fourth inning, bringing NYU even at 5-5.
 
With the game tied heading into the eighth inning, the Dolphins broke through with two runs to take the lead for good in the game. Pace delivered a run with a fielder's choice before freshman Matthew Nesensohn (Staten Island, N.Y.) drove in Pace with a single to add an insurance run in the inning.
 
Mount Saint Vincent added three more runs in the ninth inning to build the final five run advantage. Senisi drove home two runs in the inning with a double and he later scored an unearned run on an error to close out the scoring in the game.
 
The Mount finished the game with 12 hits, recording at least 10 hits in a game for the 10th time this season. Senisi led the offensive attack with three hits and three runs scored to go along with his two RBI. Nesensohn, Steven Giustino (Old Bethpage, N.Y.) and Casey Surdi (West Islip, N.Y.) all posted a pair of hits in the game with Nesensohn driving in two runs. Pace scored twice and drove in a run for the Dolphins.
 
Michael Vokulich finished with three of the Violet's nine hits in the game, including a double, with Adrian Spitz and Picerni recording two hits each. Spitz scored twice for NYU and Vokulich drove in a pair of runs.
 
Freshman Nicholas Recarte (Hacakensack, N.J.) made the start for Mount Saint Vincent, allowing three runs on five hits in 2.2 innings of work. Sophomore Robert Negron (Bronx, N.Y.), allowed one earned run and recorded five strikeouts in 3.1 innings of work before Krolikowski came on to work 3.0 scoreless innings. Krolikowski moved to 1-1 on the season, allowing just one hit and posting five strikeouts in the outing.
 
With Tuesday's win, Mount Saint Vincent moves to 5-15 overall on the season. The Dolphins and Violets will square off again on Wednesday for two games at MCU Park in Brooklyn, N.Y. First pitch for the doubleheader is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
