Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Softball team suffered a pair of non-conference losses on Monday afternoon, falling to Albertus Magnus by scores of 6-2 and 4-0. Junior Joann Guerra (Bronx, N.Y.) finished with two hits in the opener, while sophomore Mackenzie Heizer (Vacaville, Calif.) posted multiple hits in game two.
 
Mount Saint Vincent jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in Monday's first game, plating single runs in the first and second innings. Guerra, who singled to lead off the first, scored on a fielder's choice to give the Dolphins a 1-0 lead. The Mount's second run crossed in the second inning when Celestina Alfaro (Norwalk, Calif.) scored on a two-out error.
 
Trailing by two runs, Albertus Magnus pulled in front for good in the game with four runs in the top of the third. The Falcons posted four hits in the frame, including a two-run single from Daysia Wehder with one out in the frame.
 
Albertus Magnus closed out the scoring in the game with single runs in the fourth and fifth to pull away from the Dolphins. Gillian Fortier drove in a run with a single in the fourth and Kirsten McGinty crossed on a wild pitch in the fifth.
 
Guerra finished with half of the Mount's four hits in game one, adding a run scored. Kathryn Dalton (Northampton, Pa.) and Rianna Laughridge (Vacaville, Calif.) each doubled in the contest for the Dolphins.
 
Senior Kathleen Davis (Beacon, N.Y.) took the loss for the Dolphins, falling to 1-4 on the season. She worked 4.0 innings in the game, allowing five runs on seven hits while striking out four. Samantha Masselli earned the win and moved to 8-3 after working a complete game, striking out three.
 
In game two, the visitors got the deciding run in the second inning when Shyleen Ortiz singled and Brianna Spadacenta scampered home from first following an error. Albertus Magnus would break the game open with three more runs in the fifth inning, keyed by run scoring hits from Brianna Whitfield and Melissa Castillo.
 
Mackenzie Heizer finished with two of the team's three hits in the game, including her sixth double of the season. Kierstyn Bourdeau (Cheshire, Conn.) added the third Mount Saint Vincent safety in the game with Laughridge reaching after getting hit with a pitch.
 
Brittney Urciouli and Castillo each recorded a pair of hits for the Falcons with Whitfield adding a hit, a run scored and an RBI.
 
Dalton took the loss in the circle in game two, working 5.0 innings and allowing three earned runs on eight hits. Rachel Heizer (Vacaville, Calif.) came on to work 2.0 scoreless innings of relief for the Dolphins. Megan Ferraro worked a complete game for the Falcons, striking out two and surrendering just three hits.
 
After Monday's sweep, Mount Saint Vincent stands at 5-12 on the season. The Dolphins will be back on the field Wednesday when they travel to Hunter. First pitch with the Hawks is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
