Patchogue, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Softball team dropped a Skyline Conference contest at St. Joseph's-L.I. on Friday by a score of 17-5. Sophomore
Mackenzie Heizer (Vacaville, Calif.) and freshman
Rachel Heizer (Vacaville, Calif.) combined for four hits and four RBI in the game. The second game on Friday's doubleheader was postponed due to rain.
Mount Saint Vincent fell behind early on Friday after the Golden Eagles plated 10 runs in the home half of the first inning. St. Joseph's recorded five hits in the inning and took advantage of six walks in the first frame. The Golden Eagles' first three runs scored on bases loaded walks and Megan Leun delivered three runs with a one-out double in the frame.
The Dolphins got a run back in the top of the second
Rachel Heizer's first career home run and plated three more runs in the third on two hits.

Kathryn Dalton (Northampton, Pa.) and
Mackenzie Heizer followed with a two-run double to pull the Dolphins to within 10-4.
St. Joseph's put the game away in the home half of the third with seven more runs to close out its scoring in the game. The Golden Eagles ripped four extra base hits in the inning, including an RBI triple from Lindsey Corriss with two outs.
Mount Saint Vincent was outhit in the game 12-7, with seven of the Golden Eagle's hits going for extra bases. Corriss went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and three runs scored with Leun going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and four RBI. Seven St. Joseph's players scored at least two runs in the game.
Rachel Heizer closed the game 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. She now leads the team in batting average at .400 and leads the team with 11 extra base hits, including 10 doubles.
Mackenzie Heizer finished 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBI and now leads the team with 11 RBI. Sophomore
Kierstyn Bourdeau (Cheshire, Conn.) connected on her first home run of the season in the fourth inning, driving in her 10
th run of the year.
Senior
Kathleen Davis (Beacon, N.Y.) took the loss for Mount Saint Vincent and fell to 1-3 on the season. She did not record an out in the game, allowing four runs on two hits. Mallory McClafferty earned the win and moved to 4-2, working a complete game. She struck out four and allowed five runs on seven hits.
With Friday's loss, Mount Saint Vincent falls to 5-10 overall and to 4-1 in Skyline Conference play. Next for the Mount is a non-conference set with Albertus Magnus on Monday afternoon. First pitch at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry is set for 3:00 p.m.
